First editionAccord Tannique in one of the most beautiful hotels in Toulouse, I have appointed The Court of Consuls. For the occasion, I have the pleasure of being accompanied by jazz pianist Étienne Manchon. I propose a tasting of 4 exceptional wines. About ten lucky participants were able to discover the subtleties of the Music & Wine agreements.

Musical chords by jazz pianist Étienne Manchon
A pianist, accompanist, a brat and a composer, Étienne Manchon is an all-terrain pianist. For this special evening, I told him about the wine style, I gave him qualifiers and as much information as possible, and he transcribed this information into music.

The tasting sheets of the Soenologist
Wine #1: A Champagne wink to the English!
Area : Charles Legend
Anecdote : The name « Charles Legend » echoes the influence of Charles II of England and the English on Champagne. With 26 million bottles each year, the English are the first champagne consumers in the world. Sparkling Wine in Kent, but the road is still long to dethrone champagne.
Name: Champagne
The vineyard is located in the Côte des Bar, in the south of Champagne, about 100 kilometers from Épernay
Grape(s): 100% Pinot black (black white)
Cuvée: Brut nature (i.e. no liqueur shipping)
Vintage: NM (15 months of rearing, 12 of which on lees)
Service: 8°
Carafage: 30 min
Alcohol: 12%
Description : Clear gold dress.
Nose : Fine and fruity nose, which reveals precise notes of apple, pear and nuts.
Tasting : The aromatic power of Pinot Noir offers this undosed champagne a surprising balance. The attack in the mouth is toned and frank, then leaves room for subtle notes of almond and autumn fruits.
Very nice attack in vivacity with a very fine and caressing bubble. Clear flavors, almost full-bodied, on a balance that gives purity to this wine. The ventilation allows an extremely light oxidative note to develop.
Music & Wine Agreement: Sparkling | Elegant | Fruit | Vif | Effervescent
Wine #2 : A beautiful and subtle Condrieu
Area Yves Cuilleron – emblematic winemaker, studied in mechanics.
This property, which was not destined for him, has become, over time and by labour, a reference in the matter of winemaking and respect for the terroir. Founded by his grandfather in 1920.
Name: Condrieu (North Rhine)
Terroir = Granite to biotite
Grape(s): 100% Viognier
Cuvée: Place called Vernon
Vintage: 2016 (wine is at its peak)
Service: 12°
Carafage: 2H
Alcohol: 13%
Description : Expressive and generous, this Condrieu is balanced by a beautiful tension that offers it a remarkable persistence.
Cuilleron once called his cuvée Vertige
Vernon sublime vertige, Vernon gives us vertigo
I live in the nose of this viognier
A spark of the wonderful
So much he magnifies the terroir of Vernon
Nose : Bewitching on nice fresh yellow fruits (apricot, peach, mirabelle), notes of honey and flowers (violet, pink)
Tasting : Clear and pure with a nice tension balanced by the mellow viognier. A toasted and grilled side reminiscent of the great Burgundy.
Music & Wine Agreement : Enchanting / Vertige / Expressive / Aromatic / Generous / Persistence / Tension / Fat / Coated
Wine No 3 – A very nice Burgundy wine, light and fruity
Area : Régis Bouvier
Régis Bouvier founded this area in 1981 (2 ha at the start, 15 ha today)
Name: Marsannay (village) – Considered as the « Gold Gate of the Coast of Nights »

Cuvée: Longeroies

The Longeroies is a place known as the Longeroies in the northern part of the appellation. The plot of 3 ha consists of 70-year-old vines, in a beautiful south-east exposure on soils dominated by clay which requires full ripeness of grapes to obtain quality tannins.
Description : A charming nose, beautiful rich and dense material, structure all in finesse... The age of vines (up to 90 years) gives these wines a complex soul
Nose : aromas of red and black fruits (cherry, raspberry, blueberry) and pepper. blueberry, cherry, hibiscus flowers, fresh hazelnut, white pepper
Tasting : the mouth has volume and silky tannins. The finish, slightly woody, offers a nice length.
Music & Wine Agreement : Charmer / Fineness / Old vines / Crunchy red fruits / Silky tanins / slender /
Wine 4 – The evening wine, a goldsmith's work by Marlene Soria
Area : Peyre-Rose – Marlene Soria
Name: Languagedoc
Peyre Rose is an extraordinary domain. In the late 1970s, Marlène Soria, a real estate agent, settled in a small building lost in the middle of the hills of Saint Pargoire. She starts making wine for the family! Thirty years later, the building became a reference property in the wines of Languedoc Roussillon. This completely isolated place remained a little wild almost indomited, the water is drawn from a well, a generator supports photovoltaic panels for electricity generation. In a very nature-friendly approach, Marlène Soria focuses on the production of great wines, the wines of Domaine Peyre Rose are regularly listed among the best wines of Languedoc. There is a real attention to detail in Marlene Soria's approach. Take the time to do things and do them yourself! It takes time, sacrifices, but the quality of the wines of Domaine Peyre Rose feels like it.
Here we cross protected and pure wines, intense, incredibly regular at this highest level (the highest of Languedoc and the wine can even compete with the greatest wines of other appellations).
Marlene Soria performs a goldsmith's work for long-guard cuvées, indisputable, endowed with a remarkable depth of complex field, ideally combining power and elegance.
Grape(s): 85% Syrah, 15% Grenache
Cuvée: The Cists
Vintage: 2012 (10 years of breeding)
Service: 16°
Carafage: 2H
Description The tapenade, leather and bacon print the nose of the VDF Les Cistes 2012. The mouth is still very dense, southernist, rich, and tobacco.
Smells like syrah full nose, black olive, tapenade, spice. The wine again shows a great balance with freshness, it's fine, silky and elegant tannins. Very beautiful cuvée that can grow old easily.
Nose : Complex nose: black olive, graphite, pepper, currant jelly, green cardamom, fig, quinquina (to think of Barolo).
Tasting : Nice ripe frame, coherent, slender, with strong acid support. Appreciate tannic class and length for this high-end wine.
Music & Wine Agreement : Retail care / untimely / wild / great class / Complexity / Intensity / purity / density / tapenade / south / warm
